I love surfing the web. I love reading websites about my favorite motorsports. So where do I like to go? I'm glad you asked....
Disclaimer: nascar fans and open wheel fans do not necessarily mix well. Don't feel offended if you are a nascar fan and the open wheelers (on their websites) crack jokes about the "cabbies" "nascrap" etc. Similarly, open wheelers, don't be offended if nascar fans (on their websites) don't acknowledge that you even exist (Indy 500, what's that? Formula 1?). Those of us who like both will try to form a support group. Probably at some local bar. Which given that most gearheads are men, probably means it will be a Hooters (rolling of eyes). Well, at least they support a lot of motorports, and I do like hot wings...
Start here:
http://www.jayski.com/ - has everything - all the latest nascar rumors, links newspaper articles. I swear he has the entire garage area and all the shops bugged. He always seems to know it first. Or runs a close second.
http://www.nascar.com/ - the official site complete with articles, statistics and links to tracks.
Entertaining and thought provoking:
www.homepage.mac.com/fingerprintinc8/blogwavestudio - Blog which is part Dale Jr./ part politics/ part commentary. Completely worth the read. Need a laugh - try an unofficial race report. Links on site to lenses on Formula One and Dale Jr.
General Websites:
www.foxsports.com - articles and commentary by their broadcast crew. Links to drivers sites, track information, etc.
http://www.espn.go.com/ - articles and commentary
http://www.usacracing.com/ - the official site of USAC with schedules and (gasp) the rulebook!
http://www.racingone.com/ - covers most motorsports, including F1, nascar, WoO, USAC, IRL
http://www.insiderracingnews.com/ - covers Nascar and some open wheel information
http://www.thatsracin.com/ - covers nascar, has blogs by series "insiders" incl. crew members
http://www.tjslideways.com/ - contains a review of PR announcements - mainly open wheel info
http://www.speedfreaks.tv/ - very entertaining look at motorsports. You may need a gearhead translater for this one...
http://www.hoseheads.com/ - message boards, other information - open wheel.
http://www.thedirttrackchannel.com/ - open wheel - links to lots of things.
Driver specific websites:
Generally, try the driver's name. For example, http://www.tonystewart.com/ will get you Tony Stewart's official site.
A few "tricky" ones: http://www.dalejr.com/ - Dale Earnhardt Jr's website
http://www.sadlerfanclub.com/ - Hermie & Elliott Sadler's website
Nextel Cup Team websites/Owner's websites:
http://www.ryr.com/ - Robert Yates Racing: home of the #88 and #38
http://www.joegibbsracing.com/ - Joe Gibbs Racing: home of #11, #18, and #20
http://www.hendrickmotorsports.com/ - Hendrick Motorsports: home of #5, #24, #25 and #48
